Why is mosquito control important?

Some mosquitoes can spread viruses such as West Nile, Dengue, Zika and parasites like malaria. Other mosquitoes bother people and are considered “nuisance” mosquitoes that often bite humans and pets but do not spread germs. There are over 200 types of mosquitoes in the United States and US territories, about 12 types spread germs that can make people sick. This is why controlling the spread of mosquitoes in homes and outdoors is critically important.
